Melasma is a skin condition that results in symmetrical pigmented patches on the face or forearms. Typically, the affected areas are the cheeks, bridge of the nose, forehead or upper lip. Melasma can occur in anyone, but is much more frequently found among women, especially women who are pregnant, or on the birth control pill, or with unprotected exposure to the sun. Treatments vary depending on the severity of the melasma and are specialized depending on your type of melasma. Dr. Patel will personally evaluate your symptoms and discuss your individual treatment.
